When my husband and I would drive down I-10 west to San Antonio, we would come across the Woman Hollering Creek. As we did, our two girls in the truck headed to the San Antonio Stock Show, my husband would say, “Betty, that’s what we need to name the ranch!” If anyone knew me, you’d understand why he said that! My mom used to say, “Since day one, she heard me as the nurses brought me down the hall!” I like to think I’ve mellowed out in my old age….I think!”
– Betty McCormick, Woman Hollerin Ranch

Woman Hollerin Ranch is owned by Ricky and Betty McCormick and is located west of Brookshire, South of I-10 on Peach Ridge Rd.

The McCormicks have been invloved with Santa Gertrudis cattle since 1982. It all began when Betty was introduced to the Santa Gertrudis breed through her employment at LaRue’s Cattle Service, which she started working for through a Co-Op program at Texas A&M in 1980. She worked on different show strings including Charloais, Brangus, Brahman and Santa Gertrudis. Impressed with the Santa Gertrudis breed, Betty started buying cattle of her own.

Ricky and Betty married in 1989; Ricky a graduate of Texas Tech and recently retired from Total Oil and Chemical Company, and Betty a graduate from Texas A&M in 1981 with an Animal-Science degree. They have two daughters; Candice and Emma McCormick.

Woman Hollerin’ Ranch is a family owned business and the land has been in Betty’s dads family for over 100 years! Ricky and Betty McCormick enjoy their cattle, their children and traveling on fishing trips!
